Please note that courses held in English usually incur fees, and additional fees are due for non-EU students in some states.
Generally, living costs (meaning accommodation and services, everything else costs more or less the same everywhere) are lower in the former Eastern Germany. More relevant for you, sublet rooms and one-room flats cost much more in university towns (due to higher demand). You should try to get a (subsidized) place in a student hostel!
To get a student visa, you need to show financial reserves (or income) of 鈧�8700/year. However, you are likely to need more.
