bike registration in Hungary ?

bergeandrea

Hi, I am wondering if it is possible to register a bike at the national or city level in Hungary. With a code or number of identificaiton, as it exists in Belgium and France, it is easier to find the bike if it is stolen and find by chance. Thanks a lot, Andrea

There are some compatible ones in Aldi right now - think they are made by Maginon.

Something like 8K HUF for 3 of them.

Don't know if there's a subscription needed - said it works in iPhone and Android.

I didn't buy it because it'd probably needs a subscription to work and I don't have Apple stuff.

We bought some, and there is no subscription. We have Android phones. I think we got them on Amazon, quite cheap, a pack of 4.

How does it work with Android? Wondering how it can trace luggage which is miles away?

I've read up on it.   ANY Apple phone or iPad is listening for signals from tags.  It uses Bluetooth.

The IPhone/iPad then reports the tag to Apple which then shares it with the owner of the tag via the Find My Device application.

It uses the Apple devices' location to triangulate the position of the tag from different Bluetooth connections using signal strength.   There's no GPS.

Obviously to work, owners of Apple devices have to be running the Find My Device application listening for tags.

Presumably the Maginon version does more or less the same except via Android.

If someone finds a tag, they can use NFC (Near Field Communications) (like used to pay at a card terminal) to inquire on the tag and this will allow the finder to message the owner.  All tags are registered.

There's an tag monitor which "stops" people putting hidden tracking devices on people/devices/cars etc.  People will become aware of a tag near them.

Now I know, I might consider getting some. Maybe the Aldi version. I could get some and hide them in my suitcase, laptop and my bike etc.   Maybe one on my son's fancy electric scooter.

What they've got to do on marketing is be clearer on how it works as I didn't know until I read up on it.
