Hi there,
I'm Canadian, married to an Italian, we're planning on moving to Italy permanently later this year. Does anyone have any info on going about getting their Italian license? After the 1yr is up on using our Canadian licenses are we going to be forced to tie our dog & or kids to the roof of Fiat to get around even though we've been driving here for 30+ years? We have the same road rules with Italy having a few different signs, that surely isn't cause for us to have to start from zero like a teen.
Any experiences & or advice you have would be greatly appreciated.

@SimCityAT A new reciprocal agreement was signed with Canada in ‘22 & the list on that site was last updated in ‘21.

Then exchange your license straight away when you arrive because it can take a while.

You will need to go to the Motorizzazione in your town/province and ask for the conversione of your licence.  It takes about 1 month.  Make sure you have your International Drivers Permit.  You will have to surrender your Canadian licence.
