Buying in Ostuni

Hello everyone,

hopefully you can give me some advise on property in Ostuni. We are interested in buying 2-5km from town and have seen some places that meet our needs. Only they are quite close to the Ostuni MC Montecaruso quarry that produces white stone. Getting mixed messeges on whether its still open.. seems like it.

Is this a complete no go to even invest in a property near such a place? I suppose my biggest concern is health and if these quarrys affect the air and environment around it?

hopefully I have some local or international Ostuni residents that can help me out.
