Moving La Familia to Monterchi Tuscany in November 2025

Ciao Everyone,

Well we bought a house in Monterchi Tuscany(can't believe this is happening!) and we should close on it in late September, hopefully moving in November. We have a 7 year old daughter(we adopted our granddaughter) and my wife has family in Bergamo and she is getting her Italian Citizenship(probably another year) and my daughter will automatically receive it too, then it will take about 2 years for me to hopefully get citizenship. We are from Sonoma (Wine Country) California, I'm a sommelier and my wife is a master chef....we don't want to work as hard anymore, we will be semi-retired in Italy but still want to be in the food and wine industry in Italy because it's MECCA.

We are having a tough time securing a Visa...San Francisco Italian Consulate is almost impossible to get an appointment.

Are there any Ex-Pat sites and or forums you might suggest? I'm learning Italian and will be immersing myself into the culture hitting the ground running! Thanks for listening! John
