B&Bs in Qala, Gozo???

Hi -- is there anything I ought to know before booking something?聽 From the pictures I've seen on line, it seems to have coral reefs for snorkelling, some sandy beaches for swimming, and also some nice rocky beaches to paint or photograph winter storms if there are any.聽 FWIW, I am used to swimming around rocks and haven't drowned yet (famous last words).

I'm not all that choosy about where I stay.聽 Comfortable bed.聽 Good plumbing.聽 Potable water.聽 Close to ocean.聽 Good food and wine.聽 Ummm - maybe I am pickier than I thought.

I plan to have transport although the bus system looks like I might not need a car after all.聽 Would like to look at the job market in my field for foreigners.聽 Plus, I seriously need a vacation.聽 But some of the pictures I saw looked too good to be true.

Also (sorry, I'm an engineer and can't help myself) -- what do they do with the sewage on Malta?聽 Is there a treatment plant, do they dump it into the sea, or is there enough decent soil for septic systems?聽 Can you swim in the sea or are there areas best avoided?聽 I don't like pools.

Hi Duffy,

if you want to look into the job market for foreigners in Malta don't consider staying on the island of Gozo. There are no jobs there for you. They will all be on the main island.

To come for a vacation and to get a feeling for the island you should stay in one of the main areas and use the new public bus service (Arriva) to get around. They are much better than what many people write and complain about.

If you are not used to driving on the left and especially coming from a State like Alaska you will be surprised how narrow the streets are compared to the US and little the Maltese drivers care about that. If you want a nice ,relaxed vacation forget about renting a car . You can get around without !

Sounds like Alaska.聽 The good jobs are in Anchorage or Juneau and the beauty is out in the "bush".

I would actually rather not drive, but have driven on the left when I lived in Japan without any accidents.
