Place to bring a baby sparrow?

I have found today in St. Paul's Bay a baby sparrow, it has feathers but it is too young to fly, it just makes half a meter jumps.

I've put him in a box, as it was in the middle of the road, with an awful heat, and plenty of cats nearby, it didn't stood a chance there. I know that sometimes sparrows are still fed by their parents when they can't fly well, but I think this one was much too young.

The problem is that I can't keep it with me, due to various reasons, one of them having to travel by airplane soon.

Can I bring it to some local veterinary, pet shop or bird sanctuary that will take care of the bird and accept it, or common sparrows are unwanted? is there somebody in the forum that wants to have a pet bird?

I am feeding him with bread, banana, biscuits, all with water, and he seems to be eating fairly well, although it seems a bit feeble, but better that when I've found him.聽

I am tired of seeing crushed sparrows on the road, and would like to see a better life for this one.

Give Birdlife Malta in Ta'Xbiex ( 21347646) a call.

They should be able to advise you on what to do and possibly bring it into them.

Their office is on Triq Abate Rigord on the left leading down to Gzira.

I hope our feathery friend is lucky and survives.

Thanks for your replies. I have sent a email to the BirdPark of Burmarrad/Salina, and they have told me I can bring him in.

So I'll bring him tomorrow. I'll let you know how it ends the story.
