Transfering money TO the UK

°µÍø½ûÇøsinmalta

Hi everybody,

we are in the process of moving to the UK and we need to transfer our "Maltese" savings to the UK. Not a huge sum, no more than 20,000 euros.

Knowing how awkward the Maltese banks can be, I wonder if any of you have some good advice.

Our current account is with BOV and in the UK is with Lloyds.

My main question is if there are any limitation to the amount to transfer because of the EU money laundering regulations or any other unexpected quirks.

Moreover, any idea if the sum is then going to be taxed in the UK?

Thanks in advance!

Massimo

PS: I hope this was not discussed in a previous post. If this is the case, I didn't find it! :)

The banks just need to know the source of the money, if it's bank to bank then it's not a problem.

No problem, you can just transfer the money with an internet SEPA transfer.
