Social life during long winter stay

GuestPoster821

I'm back in Malta, again, for a long winter stay. From primo November to ultimo mars.
I d'not need a place to stay / live. I d'not need a job.
But for social reasons it could be nice to have something to do.
It could be a ordinary job or a job some hours a week. Maybe a charity, social, environmental, etc. job.
I have a high education and a broad experience. I'm neither young nor old. I'm danish, male, but have lived in Sweden for 11 years. But only in the summer.
Send me a pm, if you have a serious idea!

whereabouts will you be living, and will you drive, as that will have a big effect on the options

GuestPoster821

I will not drive! It's not important for me, where I live: North, South, East. Even Gozo is all right.

There are hundreds of charities you could volunteer for. what are you interested in?

I would be reasonably certain that work with refugees/asylum seekers/immigrants would be appreciated.
Also here is a list of all organisations on Malta & Gozo that would, presumably, appreciate an approach from yourself:

Hi, again!  Thx for Ur advise! I have decided to join Bird Life Malta. To be a member.

As an active member U can do a lot of things to stop the killing of protected birds in Malta.

I have a plan: I will make a t-shirt with the text:"Do not shut the protected birds". And on the backside a picture of a protected bird.

I will walk in at the hunters headquarters (FKNK) take of my jacket and flash the t-shirt.

My be they have a bar, like most brass band clubs, political clubs etc., and then I handcuff my self to the bar. Before the police arrive I could have one or two free shuts!!

You should join to!!!

Best Regards

I presume you mean "shoot" otherwise it does not make sense.

Be careful you don't breach the Maltese hunters human rights.

nostres, do you like the sight of your own blood?

50% of the people will want you dead....but the other 50% will be happy you make a stand as they are sick of it too!

Toon

its the 50% with a gun whom dont care what they shoot id be worried about... make that jacket a bulletproof one and wear a tin hat and dont take them off - you might stand a chance of walking out alive.

chinooks

lol true!

GuestPoster821

Okay! I got the message!! But what do you do?? During your stay!

GuestPoster566

Well, you don't interfere in the local culture or politics. That's for sure. One learns and accepts. And then make a decision: should I go or should I stay?

The (always) suggested voluntary work (esp. with refugees, immigrants but also with abandoned or tortured animals etc. or facing hunters as BirdLife activist) is really not everybody's thing. For sure it would not be mine. I also would not be good in taking care of (disabled) children, elderly people etc. Therefore respective education and experience is required for work in this sector ... without this, you can only sell merchandising articles, clean kennels, distribute flyers or attend car wash events for this organizations ... which is also important for fund raising :)

Anyhow, there are lots of possibilities on the island, also during winter months. If you want to take part in social life and won't drive yourself you should locate in the central area, walk around, keep your eyes open ... and you'll find many things to do :D

For me there was not one day in the last year that I felt bored  ... but, if so, start working in any customer care job for a few months and get in touch with other colleagues. Besides that, you'll also earn some money ;)
