Moving to Malta!

Hi all,
Me and my fiancee have decided to come to malta in July. Hopefully bag ourselves a job and settle down.

I read on here that if you are from the EU you don't have to pay to have bits shipped over? We're from the UK and we won't be bringing any furniture but we have quite a music collection and things like that, would that be shipped over for free?! :S

Hi

the important bit is that you are shipping your goods within the EU, and so there is no import tax (except on vehicles). The fact you are from the EU makes no difference.

Not sure if you've got all the answers you need, but here's a note from a relocation agent I know:

"When the belongings are not originating from an EU country, one must prove that there is a transfer of residence to Malta in order to freely bring in their effects without the payment of any taxes, irrelevant from citizenship.

EU citizens originating from EU member states may freely bring in their household effects without any restrictions except for firearms and weapons of any kind. Vehicles are not to be considered as household effects and registration taxes are still imposed when one transfers his residence to Malta."
