Hi Louise we moved recently from Rabat to Mgarr due to parking difficulties. However we found plenty for our five year old son to do and he enjoyed many community activities and celebrations. The park at Mdina is good and we also spent many hours running around on the grounds. I mainly did my grocery shopping at Scotts Supermarket but found the majority other things that I needed in Rabat itself. It has a bookshop, toy shops, several chemists, post office, small grocery shops, several good restaurants, hairdressers and nail shops. I am sure that you would also enjoy the friendliness of the people there :)
