Pain Medication

JockP

Hiya

I take pain relief medication which is prescribed by my GP in the UK. I will have to take this for the rest of my life, due to a chronic back problem.
My condition has not stopped me working in the UK for the past 10 years,
I am being made redundant in May. I plan to move to Malta and work full-time and apply for residency etc. Will I need to pay a private Dr or would I qualify for Malta's version of the NHS?

Any help would be appreciated

Jock

You should see other correspondence on this site re: Reciprocal Health Car for some answers. You might find the care here affordable, although medications can be pricey, and the supply not 100% reliable.

Thanks for the info

Marsascala Phil

I am seriously thinking of moving out to Marsascala,in the next 12 months to retire with my wife.
I have pre existing  medical conditions of which I take medication in the UK.I would like to know if I can continue to be able to obtain my medication on a free prescription basis as I do in the uk. I have researched into this myself but don't seem to be getting a definitive answer does anybody know who I would need to contact in Malta to get a definitive answer

it depends what the medication is (there are lists of conditions covered), but even then it might not be the medication you are used to - also on whether you are of official retirement age
