Hi,

May I know how long would it take now for a working permit to be approved?

Thank you.

In my case it took good 4 months, mostly due to some internal issues with ETC.
You could go and push them in their business hours in Hal Far, if you tell them you need it urgently it would help.
And you will also know in time if they still need some paper.
Good luck :)

Thank you Kosio, now I know the time line that I'm looking into.  Just have 2 questions, as I am a TCN, I read that health form is to be submitted when I'll be in Malta, what is this health form? What are the test that I need to take? Can I do the test in the
country where I am now to avoid hassles when I'm there already? Where can I get the health form?

Secondly, do I need a long stay visa or short term visa if I have the permit already?

Thank you.

Hi Jay-R,

I wish I could answer those, but I haven't faced these procedures as I came from and EU state.
I don't even know what TCN is...

Perhaps another member here could be more useful.
Alternatively you could speak with an immigration specialist, or ask the authorities for clarification, usually they are helpful over the phone.

Best of luck.

Hi jay-r,

if you are a TCN coming from a high-risk country and you are not in Malta when the work permit is issued your employer has to pass your health clearance form back to ETC within 3 months otherwise your permit is revoked and immigration is informed.

The main concern is TB . The health is to be done at the Quormi Health Center , not in your home country.

Your employer is also required to cover you with private health insurance within 3 months!

Once you receive your work permit you have to register for residency within 3 months so a short-term visa (3 months ) would be ok but a long-term might be safer.

Hi Ricky,

Thank you for the reply, this is useful.  So this means that TB is the only that I will undergo for health clearance?

Yes I will take long term visa to avoid hassles in the future.

Thank you and looking forward to stay in the beautiful island of Malta.

Hi jay-r,

it will certainly be a chest X Ray. The health screening is determined at the time by the Superintendent Of Public Health or the authorized doctor and might include other tests!
