retiring in malta

hi,  can anyone offer me advice on the steps to retire to malta/gozo.  i require help from shipping my belongings/costs etc and tax / income needs.   i am 43 retired due to ill health and in receipt of a pension (uk) .  also i think i will drive my car over as it appears there is no imprt duty if you become a resident?

Hi Roger,

Welcome to the forum.

You do not give too many details so I will only answer the car question.

If/when you become a resident in Malta you can bring one car with you from the UK without having to pay registration tax if you have owned the car for at least 2 years before coming to Malta.

You have to register the car when you become a resident and pay the tax due within days.Driving a car with UK plates and being a Maltese resident ( ID card or residence permit)will get the car confiscated within days !

Most of the other questions depend on your personal circumstances and you will find most of the answers on previous posts.
