Starting Up a Catering Business in Malta

kwartier

Can anyone help me on how to find opportunities for setting up a catering business in Malta?. e.g. setting up a restaurant coffee shop, snack bar, wine bar, etc.

I wish to find a central location in a promising town area (harbour region), I am ready to refurbish the outlet and equip it. Am interested also in finding a partner whom I can team up with, even other °µÍø½ûÇøs. I guess that lots of potential °µÍø½ûÇøs would wish to settle down in Malta by setting up their own business. Would appreciate any help and links. This should be a critical discussion topic on such forum as °µÍø½ûÇø.com. Many thanks.

That's a great idea. As nowadays Malta is becoming a great point of interest to the people all over the world. But it's also a fact that you will need to do more of your research about the island. As one should be more careful when it comes to invest. Having others in the same industry doesn't mean you should withdraw from your own plan. The important is to put something extraordinary in your plan. Which can differentiate you from others. Hopefully you'll understand what I mean. Wish you all the best.

I have had similar thoughts. Here in the uk I have a small cake business, weddings, engagement, christenings... I wondered whether there would be a market for this kind of thing in Malta, along side a tea room.

Exactly for this purpose you'll find a lot of local companies. There are also big trade fairs and exhibitions (at MFCC, Montekristo etc.) about weddings, events, brides, rings, flowers, cakes, household gadgets ;) and so on. There's also the annual "Gozo Wedding Fair" in Mgarr.

Best you visit such events and make some "market research".

There are quite a lot of people on Gozo making cakes for special occasions.
