I'd recommend using TripAdvisor, or meet people in/around hostels.

To Warsaw the must-see attractions are:
1. Muzeum Powstania Warszawskiego - Warsaw uprising museum
2. Warsaw Museum
3. National Museum
4. National War Museum
5. The Old town
6. climb up to the top of the Palace of Culture and Science
7. Park Lazienki
8. Cytadela + Stare Zoliborz
9. Walk down Nowy Swiat
