National Health Number

busyboy50

Good Afternoon,

I know this topic has been covered, probably a number of times, but I need to ask and read about it again. I have a Resident Permit and my 6 months in Portugal, which the Portuguese Consulate in Toronto stated I needed before being eligible for National Health. My question is where do I go to get the number for National Health and what do I need to show them?

On a side note I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful country as much as I am..Have a great day °µÍø½ûÇøs!!!!

So my response here is by no means an official solution, but we were advised by many other °µÍø½ûÇøs to avoid going to the health centers (the usual way of getting them) as it often results in long waiting times. The number you need is a número de utente. You will require your NIF document, passport and CRUE (residence certificate).

We received some email addresses of the local health center and got them within six weeks or so for the entire household. Visiting your local Centro de Saude can be done as well, just bring the documents.
