RESIDENCY VISA FOR RETIREMENT PURPOSES (D7 form)

So, I'm looking at the national visa form when I checked out (after going through San Francisco consulate page).聽 I'm looking at D7 visa (retirement pension).

For accommodation, it says this:

聽聽 Proof of accommodation;

聽聽 Lease agreement signed, or letter from inviting institution, or declaration from family member residing in

聽聽 Portugal. Hotel/Airbnb reservations may be admitted, but they will have to be long stay (minimum of 6

聽聽 months).

So, I've been hearing/reading that Airbnb is not accepted?聽 Can someone confirm who has gone through D7 visa process recently?聽 Is it accepted as long as it's 6 months OR not?

Airbnbs used to be accepted but not anymore. That form must be outdated. You will need a 12 month lease registered at the tax office.

With Portugal nothing is like it should be. Unfortunately, official/ Government entities are not always a synonym to correct information or procedures at a first attempt.

Hi,

Has anyone rented via the agency Uniplaces please?聽 They offer to provide a "prepaid accommodation certificate"聽 - has anyone used this please and is it accepted as evidence of accommodation?

I'm applying for D7 in London - well I applied but then found that unfortunately they needed the landlady of my hosts rental property to approve and sadly she hasn't so I'm urgently trying to locate a room to rent in Porto.

I have emailed the Embassy and hoping to hear back soon but just in case anyone has personal experience I'd appreciate any information.

Trying to do this long distance you are inviting problems. You should come to Portugal and set everything up personally. You might find it will save you in money in the long run. I would be very careful of any of these agencies. Many of them are just preying on foreigners.

Leases should be made locally. Renting online may creates a lot of problems. Uniplaces is mostly used by students who want to find accommodation/room..
