What happens with D7 visa when passport expires?

joemgan

My passport expires in mid-Dec this year. I made the mistake of starting the process of applying for the D7, not with a renewed one.

I tried to speak to the Embassy and they said if I renewed my passport, my application would be voided.

The staff member replied: "Visa requests are linked to a passport number. Thus, the visa requested already submitted and the sticker to be issued should the request be approved cannot be transferred to other passport. As for the renewal of passports with valid visas, please contact the competent authorities of Singapore."

My questions are:

  1. What form does the D7 visa come in? I've Googled and I see an identity card. But the staff member mentioned a sticker.
  2. Those who have renewed their passports - can this sticker be transferred to the new passport?

I'd really appreciate your replies. Thanks!

Visa is a sticker pasted and stamped on the pages of the passport. The card you saw would most probably be the TRC issued by AIMA(SEF earlier) after phase two of the D7 process.

Once the passport expires, your home country issues a fresh passport. The visa on the expired passport remains valid upto the date of  visa validity. Do make sure your carry both your passports.

When you get the new passport ask them only void the pages in the old passport but not the visa d7 page.
