AIMA payment failure

Güngör Ates

I have paid AIMA date wrongly. I put the wrong number and basically I paid 18 euros less than correct. I didn't get any appointment date in 2 months and status for 2 months is pending appointment. Should I do something about it?

Yes, register on this new AIMA website for those who requested an expression of interest (MI)  but did not receive the call:

Thanks I have done it a few days ago. Do you know when they publish that  new feature?

JohnnyPT

I don't understand the question. This feature is already available. What you want to ask is when AIMA will give you an answer? I can't tell you that.

Güngör Ates

No I wonder when does start? Just this week? I already sent form a few days ago.

I just recognize this future this week

The new feature is aimed at all immigrants who have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) request by 3 June 2024 and who may not yet have received any contact from AIMA.

This feature started in 17 january 2025.

Hi johnnypt

you recently put up a couple of links above for the AIMA for people who have not been contacted by AIMA ! My question is can you explain to me what do they mean any what do we do when I don’t have the information to insert and the form will not upload?

What is

)  MI number?

2) don’t have a Niss number and can I get the social security number if I only have a temporary visa that’s now run out and desperately seek a appointment?

3) sapa portal how can I register my details where do I get this info

this may look silly to you but trying to do these items and they will not upload or accept imput?

@davej,

These links are for immigrants who entered in Portugal under this article, which was in force until June 2024:

These people had 3 months to find a job and, if they did, they expressed their interest (= MI = Manifestação de Interesse) in staying in the country by applying for a residence permit from AIMA. If they didn't succeed finding a job, they had to leave the country.

This procedure for obtaining a residence permit came to an end last June.

This link is not for other cases.

Good morning

thank you johnnypt,

I have a Sef account which I log into to see if there is any appointments available, will AIMA contact me through this account? Apologies but I’m beginning to doubt myself in everything I’m doing with the government as I’m not making any headway with my appointment?

one more can I get a social security number if I just have a temporary visa, as I’ve been told that all government departments must accept my visa even though it’s run out?

@Dave

I suggest you go to an AIMA office (*) and ask about the appointment, and then share what they tell you here. Tell them that you can't get an appointment by phone after numerous attempts. Take a print screen of the link that says that expired visas will be accepted until 30 June 2025, and confirm that this is true. Sorry, but i can't help you more that I did.

Try one in a smaller city, maybe it is easier

AIMA offices (in Faro and Tavira, at least) don't even have tickets (senhas) through the ticket machine: they serve only those who have appointments and don't have any meaningful info about how to make one ("call 217115000 or e-mail" is the answer, if any is given). The phone's recorded voice says something like "we don't have appointments available at the moment" and the e-mail address geral@aima.gov.pt is a black hole).
