processing time for residency visa (D7)

We have been under the potentially false assumption that our D7 visa to Portugal should arrive within 3-4 weeks after we apply.聽 I spoke with the folks at VFS today & was told that it takes at least twice that long.聽 YIKES!聽

Has anyone had any recent experience with the D7 application process?聽 How long did yours take to be approved?聽 Is there any way to speed the process?

Unfortunately, there are many people complaining about delays in SEF's services.
I've heard that there was an outbreak of covid in 30 employees and they had to disinfect the building.... there are also some workers in teleworking....
