Moving back to Scotland with Canadian born son

Mckeown007

I was wondering if anyone has been through this process?  My youngest son was born here in Canada.  Would I have to apply for residency for him before I go back to Scotland and how long does the process take?  Thanks!

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

Assuming you still have a UK passport/citizenship, all you need to do is apply for a UK passport for him from the UK Embassy in Ottowa.

Hope this helps.

It isn't for most people, but your son is entitled to UK citizenship by virtue of the fact that his father is a UK citizen.

As SimCityAT has mentioned, we'd be grateful for some feedback as to how you got on, it helps us better inform the next person asking the same questions.

Hope this helps.
