Spanish Cities that Support the Arts

ABQAce

Hello °µÍø½ûÇøs!

I’m an American woman, recently retired, and am considering moving to Spain. I’m planning a trip in March to tour the country and visit various cities that I might like to live in. I wonder if any of you can suggest cities that have a strong arts presence woven into their daily life? I would like to live in a place that supports artists and has venues for theatre, music and dance, as well as the visual arts. If you are from the US, think of places similar to Santa Fe, New Mexico, or Ashland, Oregon, or New Orleans, Louisiana (pre-Katrina). In your travels through Spain, have you come across cities that match that description? I’d prefer to be within an hour or two drive to a large city if I can, but I know that might not be possible. Suggestions?

Many thanks-

Andrea
