Heard mixed reports from total scam to may have worked! Suggest don't pay any money up front and also see Iberdrola are offering different tariffs which may necessitate changing the meter. Let us know how you get on.

supersaint

Basically look at what you paid for your electricity in the last year and then compare 10% or 15% of that figure to their charges of 35.40 set up and monthly 4.13--- a total of 84.96 in the first year to see if you would save--highly unlikely I would suggest.

Try asking them how much you will save in the first year and you will be told that that is not possible because the tariffs are increasing all the time and possibly 3/4 times in the next year but if you sign up you will be locked into the best tariff available.

Basically another legalised rip off  for the unsuspecting ex pats to put up with--make your own mind up but I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole

I'm glad I didn't do anything with Iberswitch and it was a close thing since they started advertising all over the place.

I have changed over and get more than a 5% saving and it didn't cost me anything to change - I did it through 900telecom the electric was simple and their rep was Helen and I'm still talking to them about maybe changing my phones over.

I'd like more than 5% obviously but it seems that there aren't those savings to be made for electricity, maybe because the government sets the rates ? I don't know.

Anyway hopefully this info will help some of you out.

Hi all, I switched to Iberswitch 3 months ago they have so far taken nearly €50 from my account and I have not yet saved a cent on my electric bill. I still had an invoice for March from Iberdrola after paying 2 months subscription to Iberswitch. I did complain to them but they just stated that I would save money on my electricity bill. I will keep you posted on what happens. For now don't go with Iberswitch just wait and see.

I have just been signed up. I applied June 2011 paid my 30 euros.
Two months money has been taken by Iberswitch, not had a Electicity bill yet. Waiting to see if I have saved any money?

300s

I have just cancelled my contract with Iberswitch. They did switch me to a company called Elecval and guess what they are more expensive than Iberdrola. I checked my first invoice against a friend who is still with Iberdrola for the same period. The kw rate and potencia were both higher.
When I complained to Iberswitch they stated I was wrong and the increase was down to the Government changes which they cannot do anything about. But Iberdrola were still cheaper so I could not understand there argument as the Government rule would affect all electric suppliers. So do not believe Iberswitch, stay away they are con merchants, cost me around €60 for nothing.

Sorry you have had a bad experience with Iberbswitch but it does not surprise me.
But what does anger me is that the Round Town News and the Euro Weekly News continue to take their adverts in the full knowledge that they are fleecing the Ex pat community---these newspapers suggest that they look after our interests but they only look after themselves
It needs somebody to expose Iberswitch

If anyone has a complaint against any company, service etc then they should take action by visiting the office of Consumo - which is a government dept for consumer complaints and affairs. There is an office in most towns.
Or you can also take out a denuncia with the Guardia Civil - many of their larger offices have a legally qualified officer whio can help with these issues.
Doubtless the RTN et al have a disclaimer that acting on any of the adverts is at consumers risk.

Hi I dont know about iberswitch

But have changed to the day and night contract with ibadrola

my old bill was 100 per month now, 60 per month, I have been on it for 4 months. so far the saving have been great.

cheap electric in the summer from 11pm to 1pm the next day.

Cheers
Tony cssolar

Sorry cannot see the logic of day & night contract. In the summer aircon is needed all day long therefore no saving at all.
In winter heat is needed in the evening and waiting until 11pm is a total no no. Remember you pay over the normal rate for peak supply use.

cssolar

I guess every body uses electric differently.

All I can say is day and night has worked for us so far ( family of 4 )

we dont use electric heating ( heat water with solar ) use gas for cooking, wood and solar underfloor heating in winter.

now use washing machine, dish washer and pool pump at cheap rate times.

rarely use air con ( fans can run all night at cheap rate )

Cheers Tony cssolar

Hi,
Next door are on Iberswitch and let me inspect three of their bills:I compared them with my corresponding Iberdrola ones.Using the simple calculation of total cost divided by the number of units used the Iberswitch company ELECVAL chaged 24+ cents per unit as against 23+ cents for Iberdrola.Dont bother you will loose money. Wait a few months (years) for the system to evolve,Regards,Tiggy

Looks like the government has got in on the act at no cost. Assuming the local free papers are not playing an early April Fools joke we are all getting a 6.x% reduction from April 1st,tiggy
