Hi I'm Ron and was previously on the Bulgaria forum when I lived there. I returned to my native Scotland to meet my now Fianc茅e Sharon and will move to the Los Montesinos area of Spain in January 2016. Happy to get any advice, tips or knowledge from forum members.

get good fiscal advice BEFORE you move here, careful of the spanish "dick turpin" tax office, its complex and often very punitive, be aware of the outrageous property transfer tax which applies when you buy AND sell.
do your homework, its a great country if you can avoid the pitfalls
keep an eye on the election in december, should be interesting

Thanks for that ukteacher yes I've been researching Spain for a while and my brother has a place there. also came across many of the hidden dangers when I moved to Bulgaria.
Already have sight of the 10% punitive property tax from my Spanish solicitor but didn't realise it also applies when you sell. I see the Spanish tax office are chasing ex pats for more tax on the basis that they bought their homes "too cheaply" I've had an offer accepted on a place near Los Montesinos so treading with care!
Not heard anything about elections in December though!!
