Healthcare for dependant

timeflies

We have just moved to Vilamarxant near Valencia. My partner is retired and has form S1 to register for healthcare. I am 63 in December so not officially retired yet. Can I register as a dependant under his S1?  I will not be working so will be a dependant.

Simple answer is,  yes.

My, non EU,  wife was 34 when I registered her as my dependant.  Since then she has had the same cover as me.   It was Iin 2012 that we married so I also have an increased OAP.  That was abolished some years later although that did not affect those already in receipt of it

Hopefully Brexit will not change the arrangements for S1 cover.  But of course no one knows yet

Incidentally.  The so called free cover, whilst free to the user, is paid for at flat rates by DWP.   They currently pay 4,700 euros per year for those over 65 and 900 euros for dependants over 18 but under 65.  The payment remains the same no matter how much or little use is made of it.
