Hey, I'm in Gbg so I can't say much about Stockholm other than it is in fact one of the most expensive cities to live in in all of Sweden. The wage needed to live there would depend on how big the family is (how many are you supporting?) etc. If you're just one person, to get a decent-ish place, buying is the best bet. The waiting list for apartments in Stockholm can take years. No exaggeration. Get some money saved and buy a condo or a house. They usually range over 700,000 kr - 3 million kronor for something with an okay location, and require a 15% down payment.

If you're just one person, it's fully possible to live life on 25,000 kr after tax every month, but with the living expenses in stockholm I'd recommend to try to get at least 30k kr monthly after tax -minimum-.

Do you already have a job lined up for yourself here?

jennaiwanchuk thanks for the post, were even planning to move to Sweden and now looking for an apartment to rent. It's just sad that it takes a year to find one. And I even know that Sweden is a very expensive country. Do you have any idea which agencies that having a site for renting an apartment? Been searching now but as for the moment didnt discover anything. Hope you can help.

Thanks Jenna for the post that's lot of information...Did you say 700,000 kr - 3 million Kronor? that's lot of money....I will be happy to rent a small place :-)

We intend to move in July...a family of three (me my wife and our 3 yr old kid) not sure how its going to work out for us...hoping for a better life.

So I assume 25000 SEK post tax would be a stretch for a family of 3 ?
And on housing I fail to understand how do we go about finding one....for first one month we would have company sponsored accommodation can we find decent accommodation  with one month of we being there?

thanks
