Newbie needs information on current cost of living - 2011

I currently live in Long Beach, CA. Due to the unpleasant nature of people here I would like to live some where else. I was thinking of moving to the Ukraine. So I'm looking for some tips, advice, cost of living and what kind of jobs if any are available to an english speaker such as teaching english.

Please see the "New guy here" post. I am afraid moving to Ukraine is not very advisible at this moment due to lack of jobs and rising costs of living. Again, for more detailed information please see the above mentioned post.
