Hi I鈥檓 Sean,

relocated from UK to GCC back in April. I work in Saudi and recently started renting in Bahrain ( been here about a month now) so I get to do the commute across the causeway everyday. It鈥檚 actually very beutiful drive in the morning as the sun comes up.

Been relived to find this site, as I鈥檝e had zero support in finding out what the requirements are here in Bahrain to get some sort of CPR status.

Currently my main concern is being able to at least open Bank account, have internet fibre connection to my house etc and to have my own EWA further down the line.

After finding threads on this forum I now know I can apply for a Paper CPR/ CPR number. I still have some queries on that part so would welcome a DM so I can explain my full situation more clearly and relay in more detail what the clearing agent I am using is advising (have to have and exit/entry 5 year visa? Before CPR application)

happy to also share some of my limited experiences on the Saudi side such as getting Iqama, drivers license etc.

@Sean Arbuckle Hi Sean, how's life been in Bahrain? I'm doing second round interviews for a position in Dhahran as we speak and am trying to figure out whether it makes sense to just keep the wife & kids in Bahrain like some of my friends do. Spent 7 years in Dubai and with the cost of living (rents) there it makes no sense to have them there.

I've done the causeway drive many times and I am hearing it's a lot better now with less congestion?

Responded to your DM. But with your post, now I understand what you were asking. For a paper CPR, yes, you need a 5 year multiple entry visa. And for that, it can only be applied when you are outside the country.

I find the drive in the morning an absolute delight. The road is very quiet. I do leave the house around 5:45 - 6 am in the morning so miss any Bahrain traffic. I can usually reach my office in around 50 - 55 mins. I鈥檓 living near Seef area and working in Dharan.

The evenings are much busier coming back. Usual journey times anything from 1hr 15min to 1hr 30min depending on the days. Worst journey I鈥檝e had is when there seemed to be an issue with the barriers and it took me just over 2hr 30 mins to get home one night.

There are ongoing upgrade works on the middle islands so I can see that once complete and if fully manned then the congestion will get better over time.

I did 15 + years of commuting into London everyday before coming here so to me its no worse. And not really an issue. I know lots of people that I work with think its too much of a commute, but for them 30 mins is a long drive
