Hi,
I am moving to Bahrain next week for a new job. I have got myself an international driving permit聽 issued from India. Will I be able to drive on the idp? I understand that my Indian licence won't be converted to a local licence and that I have to apply for the Bahrain licence. But till the time I get my Bahraini licence, can I rent a car and drive legally on my India issued idp?

I don't think it should be a problem. Why don't you give them a call and check if they do. They might want to keep a deposit.

as far as i know if your coming on a visit visa only then you can drive with your international driving license else its not possible, you will need a Bahrain Driving license.

You can use your international driving license only if your on a VISIT visa, you cannot use it if your on WORK visa. You will need to obtain a Bahrain driving license. kindly go through the below mentioned posts which will give you information regarding obtaining a license.
