Salary structure good enough for living in manama?

livestrong4ever

Hi Everyone,

I have an offer from an employer in Bahrain. They have offered me BHD 1000 and this includes accomodation for my family. However, I have to find an accomodation which I can afford with this salary structure. I will be moving soon with my family to manama.

Now, my major concern is whether I could find a good accomodation for us or not. I think a furnished or non furnished one bed room flat will be sufficient as there will be only two members.

I have a good idea about living expenses by reading through other similar topics. I don't want to take more time from any of the members by asking it again. But request you guys to give me an idea about accommodation in manama city.

Hi

You can get a good, furnished 2 bed appt for BD350 in seef or saar, both good area's. You will be fine on that salary but as always discussed - negotiate for more and NEVER accept their first offer. People on the forum have got as much as BD500 a month extra after negotiating

My personal advice is negotiate only if you are comfortable with it. Some employees don't take negotiation nicely and they can turn down an offer, but this is rare.

In Seef, it's almost impossible to get a 2-bed place for 350 BHD. Maybe in Sanabis, which is close to Seef, but not in Seef.

Check to have a better idea of prices in Bahrain.

Hi Josnuggles & Brightonguy,

Thanks very much for swift response.

I have tried negotiating with this salary but they have a salary scales or structures for experience level. So this could be the maximum.

Also, I can see that BHD 350 is the standard figure for some apartment/flats. I have seen this for 1BHK in some areas. Hope I will be able to find something for a lesser price as I need only one bed room flat.

Thanks for the advises and helpful links.

350 for 1 bedroom sounds about right. You will see one bedroom flats for 500, sometimes even for 600 in certain areas but the price you should pay should be about 350 BD for one bedroom flat, unless you are after the absolute luxury

Again, check out Bahrain Property World. It's got an extensive list of properties you can rent out from.

Good luck.

Its good money , you can manage to get a nice furnished 1 BHK flat in 320-360 BHD in Juffair , which is where Im staying and its good area , however as suggested in earlier posts , if you are new to Bahrain and dosnt have driving license then you have to consider your transport from/to office too and accordingly you should go for a area.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the tips.

I have gone through other topics as well in this blog. Happy to see many valuable information. I am sure it will help me when I reach Bahrain with my family.

Also, there is a general fact which I realize. Rent & Living expense, no one can change these two things. It depends on area and the country. There may be ups and downs. But, end of the day I need to be prepared to cope up with the standard.

My visa processing is going on. I am still searching around in the blog for more valuable tips. I am sure I will find more.

I will surely come back if I need some help.

Hi Friends,

I have gone through quite a number of posts but couldn't find an answer for couple of concerns that I have now or else I might have missed it even if it is somewhere there.

My first doubt is regarding family visa. I understand that CPR is mandatory for this.I think I need to clear another medical to apply for CPR. Once this is done, is there any other procedure? Or is it just to apply for the visa with CPR and other basic docs?

Second is about driving license. I have driving license from one of the European countries. And I have seen in the topic "Definitive guide to bahrain for new °µÍø½ûÇøs..." that it is easy to get a Bahrain driving license if you have one like this. But is this applicable for only Europeans/gcc/western nationalities or any nationality?

Hi Syed11,

Congratz for the new job :)

I can just share my experience and as far as I know. In my case, employer did not ask for attested documents as they mentioned that this is not needed for a bahrain work visa and they have started the process already.

However, I have seen in some official websites that documents need to be attested. So, it may be different for each type of visa. The best advise that I can give you is to confirm with your employer itself because they are responsible for this. If your employer already mentioned that it is needed, then you may have to do it.

There are many agencies that you can google but I exactly dont know much details. I am sure you will get tips from other experienced °µÍø½ûÇøs in this group.

All the best:)

Hi , Regarding Visa : After landing to Bahrain , At passport control itself there will be separate queue for new comers(LMRA) and there they finish some formalities and provide you a document which will be keeping your appointment for medical test , and they will stamp your passport with visa. Once you report to office your employer will take copy of your visa page and passport to process your CPR , however neither CPR nor medical will stop you from starting process of your dependents visa , these are not prerequisites , Im sure your employer will be doing this too for you .
Once your family visa arrive the passport control process will be same for your family however they will not require to go for any medical test , you just need to take appointment for their CPR and have to go to CPR office on that particular day/time to get it done.

About DL : if you have license from European countries or USA then you can directly go to traffic directorate and based on this they will issue you a Bahraini license , it has nothing to do with your nationality.

good luck !

PM me , I will share the details of an agent in Delhi , who is doing this , his charges are reasonable. However I dont think its required for Bahrain work visa.

Hi Akhil004,

Thanks very much for the tips.

It is good to know that the process is easy. But I have recently seen in one website that license from europe or the usa can be converted only if the candidate is a citizen of that country.

Do you know any similar case? Sorry, it is still a doubt in my mind after reading it somewhere.
