Very interesting reading, thanks for the details.
Does that mean that neither of the types of taxi does shared trips, picking up various different people on the way?
Here in Lebanon we have the taxi for a door-to-door private more expensive trip, or taxi-service for the main routes, possibly sharing with others, and much cheaper.
Is there no equivalent to the "service" in Jordan?

yes what we call TAXI = it's private door-to-door , and it's more  expensive .( that what article was about )

and we have sarfis -as here Pronounces- with whit color ..it's drive you on exactly roads (Specific point to Specific point )...
sharing with 4 person more. it's cheaper than taxi , price is clear up per person
