I know that there is a community of Christians around Amman. The holidays are just around the corner...I wonder what your plans are for the upcoming Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day?

Yeah, they might have some events at the US Embassy. You could perhaps go visit Bethany or go to the St. George's Church in Madaba. Christmas is a sort of quietened down holiday in Jordan because only about 6-8 % of the population are Christian or from a Christian Sector.

Thanksgiving--out of my entire five years of living in Jordan, I have never once witnessed Thanksgiving being celebrated, as it is an American Holiday. New Years, is sort of the same thing, they sometimes might have celebrations in Amman, but definitely toned down and not like those in the U.S. . Jordan is a hole new set of traditions, and a new way of life...
The big days in Jordan are always in Ramadaan, and at the End of Ramadaan, Eid al Adha, you know since it's a predominately Islamic country.

And Ramadaan is just sooo magical and my husband never spend as much time as we do in Ramadaan--it's just a very special time in Jordan. (Kind of reminds me of those three weeks of vacation that we used to get for Christmas and New Years as a kid---all the fun and excitement.

But they don't do presents and stuff like that usually, they give out money to female relatives and children.
