There are lots of teachers in Kuwait - not sure about Salmiya in particular. I'm Canadian but not a teacher. Kuwait is really safe. Don't worry about safety but of course, don't do anything stupid like walk alone late at night. There aren't many sidewalks and need a car to go places but taxis are easy to find. And you can come and go as you please. It is not an uberconservative Muslim country. You'll realize that when you get here. Although I would advise you be respectful in your dress, I've seen locals wearing some questionable clothing. It will be a good experience, just come with an open mind and an adventurous spirit.
