Visa question - US citizens

dmw7390

I'm supposed to be flying to Kuwait on January 223rd and have been waiting to receive my work permit from my employer. In the mean time I have been working on collecting all of the other necessary documentation (criminal record, medical records, passport photos, visa application). I just received the document from my employer and he sent me an entry visa, not the work permit.

My main question is this: can I enter Kuwait with my entry visa and obtain a work visa while in Kuwait? Or, do I need to start this process all over again (I.e. Wait for the work permit, then go and get another FBI screening, then apply for my work visa). I'm worried that I won't get to kuwait on time and would really appreciate any help.

Hi !

First is entry visa which  is  valid for 3 months then  during that time  they will process your working visa before they expire.

Hope it helps.

Yes, you can enter on a tourist or visit visa. DO NOT TELL any immigration officer you are coming to work.

Make sure your necessary docs are stamped by the Kuwait embassy or consul.

Once your work visa is ready, you will go to Bahrain for a medical if you don't have one and get your work visa stamped to re-enter Kuwait

if memory serves, most US teachers are brought in as you are now, then they do their work visa by sending them to either bahrain or jordan.

so short answer, yes.
