Information on duqm

Hi. All previous posts about duqm are very old.. I under stand it's a developing place.. We are expecting a job offer in duqm... I want to know the present facilities in duqm like schools for children,聽 standard of the schools.. Is it Better to move with family?聽 Etc... Hope someone will help.. Thanks in advance.

It's many years since I was last down there, when the dry dock complex was on the point of being commissioned, there was only one choice of hotel (unless you stayed on the accommodation ship or on camp) and the airport could best be described as an air field.

I gather that over the years local infrastructure, services and amenities have vastly improved but it is very much an out of the way place.

From what I recall, those working at the port of Duqm for the Omani Dry Dock Company tended to聽 work solid for several weeks before heading back to say Muscat for two weeks and most of their entertainment was on site and though the roads are OK, it does take quite a long time to drive to say Muscat.
