Anybody can shed any light/experiences on this school?

emckay1982

Hi,

I am a 30 year old British female considering a teaching move to Oman. I have shown interest in a few jobs, one of which is the United Private School, but this school seems to be showing the least amount of information on the web in terms of reviews etc.

I would appreciate it if anybody can shed any light/experiences on this school.

Many thanks!

I had the unfortunate experience of working for United Private schools last year, which was a horrific experience. The schools are simply a corrupt money making business.
It has taken me a long time to recover from the experiences I endured, and would urge you to decline the offer.
Amongst other things the school facilities are very substandard, teachers are under constant threat of deportation if they don't obey the owner''s corrupt vision of how a school should be ran/managed, grades are changed frequently depending on how influential their parents are in Muscat, there is no pastoral support for staff or indeed any support for staff. In short it was horrific!
All the best, Izzie

UPS is one of the most horrific schools to work at. One of my colleague's children studied there and he took them off within a year because of the filthy management. So I would not suggest you to accept the offer. Otherwise, if you just want to make a move, it's your own call.
