English Instructors in Oman

Theresa1975

Hi! I'm new in this forum. Reading from the comments of the generous people here makes me learn a lot about the country and the people  -- the locals and the °µÍø½ûÇøs alike!!

I would like to know how are Filipino English instructors' working conditions are here in Oman.. Can they save if they earn 550 OMR if they live with their family (husband and child)  and send the latter to school..

Hope you could share some ideas.. Thanks very much in advance.

God bless!!

Yes, I am also from RPR.  I dont know how it is really there.  Have you heard anything from someone who has come before your wife?  I also plan to bring my family.. but currently am having second thoughts of coming because I am torn to leave my daughter...

bago lang din ako dito sa forum na ito, my wife is still here and she's scheduled to leave on Oct. 19. baka nga magkasabay pa kayo. gusto din nya kame isama sa Oman and live there while she's working. ganyan din palagay ko ang dilemma ni misis ko. hindi nya matiis na maiwan mga anak namin.

I have a permanent job dito sa pinas, 17 yrs na ako dito sa work ko and im enjoying kaya im having 2nd thoughts of leaving.

Hi betzgadja!

When is your wife leaving?  I will be leaving on December, am working on my retirement papers..   This means I should shoulder the booking fee. ( As per the agency's notice) Just a few questions:
  1.  Do you have any idea of how Omani students are?  ARe they
      wild or manageable?
  2.  Could we be given security in our job if our contract will
only last us for a year-- though its renewable..
  3.  Am still thinking if I should push though with this or not..
If in case I dont.. what could be the repercussions?  Will
the MoH sue me for resigning early though I have not started
      with the teaching yet?

My wife is scheduled to leave on Oct. 19 but she's tryin to convince the agency to allow her to leave on November. How much would be the cost of booking fee?

I have no idea on how Omani students are but i guess coming from my father in law, omani's are good people.

your contract is 2 years right? and it depend on you if you still want to continue. There are plenty of filipino's in Oman and thats a plus to you not getting bored in there.

Theresa1975

According to the agency it will cost $309.  But the airlines said it will only be amounting to $75.00.  I will have to email the agency to clarify.

Am currently working on my retirement papers.  Hoping everything will work well.

Hi Theresa,

my wife got her flight scheduled changed to Nov. 1. she never mentioned anything about her paying for the booking fee. you may want to join her on that flight date. She already filed her resignation officially. Just be positive that when you get there, everything will be alright. Oman is a peaceful country.

Maybe you would like to get in touch with her thru her celfone number. ill txt it to you!

Hello! It depends on the age of your students. =D

Theresa1975

Oh, thank you.  How is it teaching at the Ministry of Health?  How are clinical instructors there?

tinnietorres

Hello, actually I am teaching for Kindergarten pupils

Hey,

I hope you have a pleasant experience here in Oman. I'm from London and I was teaching English last year in Saudi, and I'm currently teaching in Oman - I LOVE OMAN!

The people are friendly and the students are the same as students all over the world, they're students and will always be students - They only differ according to the customary norms.

Best regards,
Elias
