Hi Folks,
It is offered me a technical specialist job with a lumpsum 35k QR/month in Doha.
Would somebody tell me whether it is enough to ensure a poroper european standard life for a couple. Additionally I am a 55 civ. eng.
Thank you

Hi Bako
If the package includes accommodation, services, flights, medical insurance etc., then it might be OK. But if you are to provide these yourself then there won't be enough left over to compensate for the 'joys' of living in Doha, especially after Budapest - a fine city :)

you can get a villa for around 15k per month,
other expences depend on your lifestyle.

but i dont think 35k is a good renumeration for an engineer,

in fact i am getting only 7k per month, the thing is i am an Indian.

My collegue, Mr.K.M, An American, he is been paid 50k per month. both of us doing the same job. I think you can bargain on that amount, if you have enough experience, and if the company is an ARAb company. i am sure you will get more than 50.

50k I think I want to retrain as an engineer!!  I am a NZder and you can definately live well on QR35,000 - saying that the norm here for an international package is to get annual flights (or more) for yourself and dependents, power, phone, medical and an accomodation allowance or housing provided.  As noted above it is not just your postion or experience which determines your package but your nationality unfortuantely (or luckily for you)
