Renting in Doha: Do I need to pay rent in advance?

Hi all,

I'm currently looking for a furnished apartment or room in Doha. On some websites, it says I need to pay 12 months rent upfront to secure, others say 3 months upfront, and some don't mention it at all. Can anyone clarify the situation for me?

Normally,
You should pay
1 month in Advance (Rent)
11 cheques (for the rental of the remaining 11 months)
1 undated cheque (for insurance)
