Mada card query

Shoane

Hi, can anyone tell me if the Mada card is an absolute necessity in Saudi Arabia? Over and above one's own bank card from home and a local bank card (e.g. SAB debit card.) Thanks, just trying to understand what the unique differentiator is that so many people have it.

@Shoane, the MADA card is a debit ATM card with security and added-value features, issued by the local banks in KSA, example SAB bank, that allows a cardholder to access funds in their accounts, such as cash withdrawals in ATM machines, online transactions, paying government fees, and utility bills.

Big advantage of MADA is that you can withdraw money from any Saudi ATM machines without any extra fees because all of KSA banks are members of MADA network.

Also, small bakalas in the street corners and petrol gas stations prefer you to pay them in cash, however, if you won’t carry cold cash in your wallet, they accept MADA card.
