Where do people stay when they first get here?

PMUSA

I have been looking through the forum and it seems a good number of people arrive without a permenant place. I know some companies provide housing so you have a place to move into when you get here, but what about everyone else? If you have say a housing allowance, do you just find a hotel for a few weeks or months?

So please enlighten me. (whats the deal guys! lol)

Yes, either hotels or service apts.

Maybe you could make a friend on the EB who has an extra bedroom to rent to you until you find a permanent place ;)

Hi PMUSA,

Your employer should sort out your accommodation before you arrive.
The options would be a villa on a compound, an aparthotel, or a hotel room. You should ask your employer before you arrive, as when you get here it can be daunting at first. The housing allowance should make no odds as it is almost always the case that your employer will find somewhere for you, for at least the first few months anyway, whilst you find your way around.

Hope this helps

Allie, I would take that as an offer but from reading all your post on the forum I will not go there.LOL That is a good idea if it comes to needing a place.

Sandy thanks for the info, I am thinking it will be all taken care of but I like to be prepared. As a Construction PM scheduling & planning are the biggest part of my life. I plan for the worst so I am rarely disappointed. Some people may think I over do it sometimes, but it becomes a big puzzle to be solved and I enjoy it. LOL

Booking 1 bedroom apartment in a hotel for 1 or 2 years is not that uncommon here.
