I've been in contact with a few companies for Middle East jobs, and just trying to see who is legitimate or not.

Can anyone speak of a company named Human Valoris and their reputation ?

Also, has anyone had contact or have any comments on dealings with Addax Petroleum and/or Qatar Oil Services, Ltd ?

You could check these out on LinkedIn.

Thanks.

I have. But having a page on LinkedIn, a company website, etc. isn't necessarily a sign of legitimacy. There's a good deal of 'scamming' going on via the job market, and I'm just trying to see if anyone has had any personal interaction, or knows - via word of mouth - about reputation.

I received a strange offer letter from one of these listed companies, or from someone posing at them.  The company and website appear to be legit, but the offer was so preposterous - it makes me question if someone else isn't simply using this company's name to run a scam.

Not being paranoid, just trying to be careful....

If a company has several hundred employees listed on LinkedIn (whom you can contact) I would say that greatly lessens the possibility of a scam.

If I were you, I'd play along with the offer until they asked for money lol  Then you'll know!

There is a huge loophole in LinkedIn profiling. Any scammer can attach his/her profile to any reputed company and that company never questions/cares. Now for jobseekers, it's really not practical to contact other employees of the same company to confirm the identity of the person who came up with the offer.

Good to know but I've contacted people on LinkedIn about their company and have always gotten informative replies.  If nothing else, you can know if the person who came up with the offer has the same email address used by people who actually work at the company.

Bottom line always (IMHO), is to do as much research as you can and then go with your gut.  If the offer is too good to be true ... or if you in any way feel uncomfortable ... forget it.
