Hi all

Q: I am in the process of attesting my husbands documents, required for processing dependant visa. my husband is in Riyadh at present, and the attested documents are in the UK. He is looking to apply for dependant visa, however the attested documents are in the UK.

Can someone advise please on the best way to get the attested documents to him in Riyadh?

Yes, FedEx or DHL are good options for that.  That's what I used as well in the past for marriage certificate and degrees.  Only other option is by hand if you know someone traveling soon.

You said yourself FedEx :)
No better and safer means exist other than the renowned courier company i.e., FedEx, Aramex, TNT etc

Can't the visa process just take scanned copies?

Scanned coloured copies

Rather than all this FedEx and DHL hassle?

Also any idea of the time and cost to use FedEx?

From UK to Riyadh?

Also is it delivered to a FedEx depot in Riyadh so that person can collect.
Or is it delivered to residential address?

Originals docs will be required.

You can check the most updated rates on the courier companies websites.

They deliver on the door-steps. KSA has a bad postal address system. That's why you'll find most addresses in PO box numbers. What they usually request the sender is to include the cell number of the recipient. Once the package gets ready to deliver, the delivery guy will call the recipient to enquire about the exact location.

Copies of documents can definitely be accepted, but whether originals or copies are attested, once attested you can't scan or copy them again.  Documents (originals or copies) with original attestation stamps are required, so you will have to send the attested documents by courier.

Courier usually takes 3-5 days maximum from anywhere to anywhere.  Go for Aramex if you find their office, as they are a lot cheaper than FedEx and DHL.  Once packages are received at the courier company's office, they call the recipient, giving the option of delivery to home or office address, or pick-up from the courier company.  Make sure you put down your husband's phone number, and proper street address (home or office), not the P.O.Box address.

You can also go with certified and/or registered Royal Mail.  It will be a bit slower, but a lot cheaper.
