Money Transfer from Saudi to UK

magicahmed

Hi,

Shortly I will be moving to Riyadh to work as an ESL instructor. I am hoping to transfer a significant portion of my salary back to the UK, to save as a deposit for a house.

What is the most cost-efficient way to transfer money back to the UK from Saudi Arabia? Which bank in the UK is most receptive to ex-pat money from abroad? I would really appreciate some general advice on the best set-up to maximise the net amount of money ending up in my UK account.

Details: My pay is 11'500 SAR per month. From this, I hope to send a minimum of 7'500 SAR every month. I don't mind waiting for, say, three months and then sending a larger lump sum if it is more cost effective. I am not worried about timings either, as I'll be in Saudi and I won't be spending the money for at least two years.

I would really appreciate some help.
