Does a Bahrain paper CPR make you a resident?

JonMc

Hi

Tried finding it an answer to this was posted. I live in Bahrain and work in Saudi. Like many others I have been in saudi since 7 March.

There are rumors that the causeway may open later in July but will be phased opening with those who are residents one side and work the other being able to cross first.

I have a paper CPR and does anyone know if that would make me a Bahrain resident? I also have a VIP pass but doubt that will make any difference.

You should have posted this on the Bahrain forums.

The simple answer to your question is that no, it does not make you a resident.  A resident is someone who has a residence visa stamped in their passport, either through work or family or self sponsorship.  A paper CPR is for people like you who live in Bahrain and work in Saudi.  It is granted based on your Iqama in Saudi and NOC from employer and comes with a longer term visa but it is NOT a residence permit.   You lose it when your Iqama in Saudi is cancelled.

If you read my posts, I was able to cross into Bahrain on the 25th of March when the causeway was closed and that was only made possible because I had a residence permit for Bahrain.  A friend of mine was not allowed in.  For him, he had to get a permission letter from NPRA Bahrain to be able to cross.   Another guy was able to cross because he had a physical CPR card from the time he was employed in Bahrain (and moved to a paper CPR later), so they got confused about him and let him go :).

So my suggestion would be to try and get that permission letter as without it, Saudi immigration won't let you exit even.

Thanks for responding much appreciated. You confirmed the bad news I was expecting.

I will just have to wait as I won’t cross until I know I can get back, was hoping that paper CPR and 5 year visa would be sufficient if phased opening but clearly not...

I expect I will still try on 27th if it does do phased open but will expect to be disappointed.

Good luck!

Hi Just wondering how to get a paper CPR number as I like to rent a house in Bahrain (I work in Saudi). I currently have 1 year multi entry visa, Canadian citizen here.

Thanks

Search the forums.  There are threads on this.   You would need an NOC from the Saudi employer.

Familiar with forum etiquette tried searching before posting above, but could not find anything useful.

I would appreciate if you answer me or send me a link on how to obtain a CPR number on Multi entry visa.

Thanks for your effort

You need to go to Bahrain forum and search there.  Since you signed up on Saudi forums, by default, it will search in Saudi forums and you won't find anything.

But to keep it simple, try and find an agent / clearing agency in Bahrain and ask them to help you with this.  Forget about your 1 year multiple entry - that does not get you a paper CPR.........when you get a paper CPR, they will give you a 5 year visa.   The reason I am saying that you should get an agent is because:

1) Even in normal times, this required multiple visits to NPRA offices which most people don't have the time to do
2) Nowadays, its by appointment and it is next to impossible to get an appointment

Google for document clearing agencies and then start calling them.
