Prescription Medicine

Sempre Barca

Would appreciate if anyone could provide any info on the following.

I am a Canadian °µÍø½ûÇø relocating to Riyadh and have Type 2 diabetes. I need to bring in my tablets which is quite a large supply as I take 2 a Day. Do you know of the procedure to bring those into Sauid Arabia? I tried Govt. sites but there was no info.

ANy info or official procedures/sites would be very helpful. BTW - I tried the Ministry of Health but no info and no response to emails.

Thanks

Welcome to Riyadh!  As long as you have scripts for the meds, no problem bringing them into the country.

BTW, you may not be aware but diabetes is quite a large issue in Saudi so you'll have no problem refilling your medications here.

I agree with Allie :top:

Thank you Alliecat and Salman. I am not sure if I will have to translate prescription into Arabic and have it attested, or would just the English prescription be enough.

Thanks again

No need tgo translate prescriptions, most pharmacies do have english speaking sales persons. If you need to verify whether the medications are available here please state them and we can check out for you.

Here's the thing:

my baggage was never given a second look.. and I've been through this (in and out) 3x so far.  They x-rayed it and I was on my way.

I'd brought in meds, too--most notably over 100 barbituate- containing pills for migraine headaches.  They were in the pharmacy container plus I had my medical papers with me so that if there had been any questions, I could have produced my health forms indicating my physician in the US had prescribed this medication.

I really don't think they scrutinize luggage like they used to unless the x-ray gives them some reason to.

As for getting your meds here--serioiusly, it is NOT a problem.  Hospitals are English speaking here and since diabetes is so predominant, all the meds are available (I already checked this for a gal and her hubby on  this forum).

Hi Sempre Barca!

While you may get good advise from other readers relating to your medicines, I take the opportunity to share with you some information that you probably did't expect to receive.

I am reading a book on natural cures by Kevin Trudeau. You may find details on naturalcures.com.
It opened my mind to possibilities I never thought before. I can briefly tell you that while allopathic medicine aims at Disease Management, natural medicine aims at Wellness Enhancement.
I'm beginning to realise that there are natural cures to almost all diseases, and there isn't need to load toxins into our bodies through genetically-modified food or drugs. I'd seen a few cases earlier in my life where patients were cured with simple things.

When it comes to exercise, I am convinced that rebounding is one of the best for health. Get a mini-trampoline.

Take care!

As long as you have the prescriptions and the pills are in the pharmacy (or hospital) packaging, no problem coming in with them.

And the other posters are correct...nearly every pharmacy you would think of patronizing will have someone who speaks English and can fill your prescriptions here.  No need to translate them.

Welcome...enjoy the adventure.

Alliecat

No comment about the mini-trampoline, Misterstretch?  You disappoint me!

MisterStretch

It was off topic...and I was laughing too hard, because every time I think of a trampoline I remember a little boy in my gym class who had a problem with incontinence and had an "accident" while jumping on one.

He had a little round brown companion (that had rolled down his pant leg) bouncing along with him.

Now, that's a hijack if I ever heard one.

Interesting response, Misterstretch!
I intended to be not off topic but one step ahead. If diabetes 2 can be cured, there won't be need for synthetic pills anymore!

How about homeopathic medicines, are they allowed with prescriptions ??

Alcohol is a bigtime buzzer, must not even think about taking along any alcohol based medicines. However, tablets made on sugar-of-milk & tonics must not be issues if brought along with the prescription.
