Family Visa Clarification

Rushdi1310

Dear all,

Hope everyone are safe from the prevailing pandemic.

I have accepted and offer to work in riyadh as Operations Manager for a big company and I will be moving once things calm down. I'd like to get some advice on the matter which I have mentioned in the subject.

1. My employer mentioned that my visa will be under labour category due to bla bla reasons and once upon arrival they will change it to a decent visa category (Eg: Technician)
2. I do have a higher national diploma in software engineering and also 8 years working experience in the gulf (UAE)

I do understand that I can take my family on visit visas whenever required. However, does it mean that I cannot ever take them PERMANENTLY in the future with this visa category? Is there any option which is available to get them under family visa?

Kindly advise.

Thanks

Labor visa - you are not eligible to apply for a family visit visa or permanent (resident) family visa, An Engineer visa or non-Engineer (Technician) visa does allow you to sponsor your immediate family member to come to Saudi Arabia.

Thanks for that information. As I have mentioned, my company will change the category from labour to a reasonable category, Eg: Technician. This was clearly mentioned by the HR to me. As you have mentioned, Engineer/non engineer (Technician) will allow to bring my family, does this mean only for visit or permenantly?

It's not easy to change labor visa to technician or engineer visa upon arrival in KSA. One factor to delay you is the requirement for Saudi Council of Engineer (SCE) registration process. Demand for Engineer visa or non-Engineer (Technician) visa before start onboarding process to avoid unpleasant surprises. This is for your information.

Engineer visa or non-Engineer (Technician) visa both allow you to apply family visit visa or permanent (resident) family visa.

Well, they didn't particularly mention about technician visa. I said that as an example. However, they will give a different category apart from labour. As per them labour visa will be given initially for swift onboarding purposes. I did check with few others who went to riyadh already, as per them labour category was changed to a different category and some of them have brought their families. Thanks for that information, it was worth knowing
