More power outages

Fedy23

For the past few weeks, we've been experiencing power outages. It's disheartening really! The temperatures are now in the 30s and we are without water and electricity for hours at the time. Last week, my freezer defrosted and I had to throw away cheese and milk from the fridge because they went off.

Today, once again we are without water, electricity, internet...

We live in the kemeragzi area. It's so bad! Why do they do mantainance work in summer?? Why so many hours at the time???

If outages are frequent enough to create the frustration coming loud and clear from your post, as one solution I would proactively (vehemently)  push the apartment management to consider having a generator installed.  Naturally, there might be additional charges to each resident to cover the cost.  Alternatively, if the outage is scheduled as you imply, there should be coordination between the contractors and the residents to minimize disruptions.  I'm sorry for your plight and sympathize with your frustration.

In Turkey, this is the norm. That is why any more or less serious residential complexes are equipped with generators. If you do not have a generator, then you bought a cheap apartment in a not very good area, and that means it is your choice. That is why, before making a decision to buy real estate, you need to find a good realtor.

Thank you Gino, I really appreciate your suggestions and yes it is something we are thinking of suggesting to the management in out next meeting.

We are also considering solar panels. However, it is a pricey option but a great investment.

Thanks again 😊

@kzein

  It's a weird norm  then. In 2025, in Turkiye to have some maintenance work done in the main road, the whole county has to be cut off from the electric system! It's almost like a very bad joke.

No, I don't live in a bad area or cheap place. As a matter of fact I live in one of the most expensive part of Antalya and I wouldn't classify a 4 bedrooms villa as a bad place to live.

It's just the methods used in Turkiye are a bit 'old style'. I remember having the electric cut out back home, in Italy in the 1980s....

Just editing to say that everytime the power gets cut off, I have had to throw away food from the fridge which upsets me a lot knowing many people go hungry. Surely, there is a better way to do maintenance work....

Anyone has installed solar panels in their property?

@Fedy23

I absolutely agree with you, the methods are old. But for now, this is how it is, there are no other options.
