Was wondering if electronics are expensive in Turkey like a laptop or cell phone ?
Are brand names like DELL , HP and SAMSUNG phones available for competitive prices ?

Hi karmsun,

I'd say "expensive" really depends on what you're comparing Turkey prices to. It looks like you are from NYC. If so - as a fellow American - I'd definitely recommend buying what you need there; US prices are substantially lower. Prices on high-end tech like an S21 or new iPhone are bonkers here. But even small accessories are cheaper and better quality if bought in the US.

Note: The one item I needed before moving to Turkey was a cell phone. But I decided to buy that particular item in Istanbul (on sahibinden.com/en - basically the craigslist here) which allowed me to dodge the absurd fee (more than $200) to register a foreign phone. But don't worry about this is if you are coming for less than a few months.
